Karrot: Buy & sell locally

Karrot: Buy & sell locally is an app that facilitates local transactions, enabling users to buy and sell a variety of items directly within their neighbourhood. It connects individuals for exchanges ranging from home decor to baby products, with a strong emphasis on community-based interactions. The app is free to use, and it also provides opportunities to find items available at no cost. Its core design focuses on local meetups for item handover, which eliminates the need for shipping and packaging.

Local Trading Without Shipping

The app is built around local commerce, allowing you to connect with neighbours to buy and sell items within your community. Transactions are designed for convenient local meetups, such as down the road or at designated local spots. This approach removes the hassle and cost associated with post and packaging, streamlining the exchange process for both buyers and sellers.

Streamlined Listing and Communication

Selling an item through the app is designed to be quick and straightforward, reportedly taking less than 30 seconds to post. Users can upload their items for sale or search for specific products they wish to acquire. Once an item of interest is found, users can initiate a secure private chat with sellers or buyers directly within the app to negotiate a deal and arrange the transaction.

Community Trust and Security Features

To foster a reliable trading environment, Karrot incorporates several trust and security measures. Users are verified through both location and mobile verification processes. The app also features a Karrot Rating system, visible on each user’s profile, which is based on reviews and feedback from other users. Furthermore, the platform restricts advertisements from professional sellers, maintaining its focus on peer-to-peer community trading. All communication between parties occurs through a secure private chat system.

Price Drop Alerts and Discounts

Users can stay informed about potential savings on items of interest. The app provides notifications about discounts. You can also favourite specific items by tapping the heart icon, and Karrot will send you an alert if the price of that item drops.
